The strangeones.com Supergrass Interview
So, here I am, sat in Supergrass's dressing room. Mick is showing me their future world-domination plans on his laptop, Gaz is ironing his shirt ready for the show and Danny is... er, about... somewhere...

A shuffle of papers and the questions appear, including some, or none, of those sent in by visitors to the site. Thanks to everyone who sent in questions, and I'm sorry they didn't have chance to answer every single one, but here goes...

When I went to the recent Radio 1 recording session, there appeared to be a lack of communication between the band. Why is this? Do you not get on?
Gaz: "We can't stand each other."
Mick: "Cause it's so loud on stage, you can't hear yourself think."

Although not blatant, I think many Supergrass songs are more reminiscent of early Floyd than any band I've heard, Late In The Day's middle section especially. How much has Pink Floyd been an influence to you?
Mick: "Loads, but not enough for the lawyers to get involved."

Gaz do you trim your sideburns often? If so, how often?
Gaz: "Whenever I've got time. Usually every 9 days."

Will there ever be a 'Jennifers' re-issue?
Gaz: "No, that's all finished with. We're Supergrass now, you see!"

What's your main priority: Selling records, making music for a living, making music for fun or pleasing the fans?
Mick: "Making music for fun, making music for a living, selling records then pleasing the fans."

Will you be doing the Mini Irish Tour I heard you talk about in May when you were playing the Trinity Ball. Will you play Cork also? Just out of curiosity, did you ever hear of an underground Cork band called Sultans of Ping FC.
Mick: "We'll be in Eire early next year and we hope to include Cork."
Gaz: "Yes, we like Sultans of Ping FC."

What does "I should coco" mean? I had a Welsh roommate in college who said she'd met them once and they told her it meant, to go hang out at a place in Reading called Coco's. But I didn't believe her. So, what's the true meaning of it - if there is one.
Mick: "To you friend to go and get her info sorted."
[discussion about what it actually means ensues]
Rob: "It means n'est pas doesn't it?"

When will the collection of music videos be available?
Mick: "Soon. Wait for it..."

Is it Gaz or Mick who sings on "We're Not Supposed To" from "I Should Coco"?
Mick: "It's Gaz with Danny on backing."

Why is it that on any pictures and video's you never see Robert Coombes?
Mick: "Cause he's very shy."

When you write your songs do you plan a writing session to write together or do you write separately, then show each other what you've done, pick out the best stuff and put it all together?
Mick: "Second one."

What are your favourite kind of ciggies, beer and liquor?
All: "Marlboro Lights, Camal Lights, Samson, Heineken, Kingfisher, San Miquel & Guinness."

I live in Iceland. Have you ever considered putting on a show here?
Mick: "Yes we have, and we will next year."

Why did you change the lyrics on 'Out Of The Blue'?
Mick: "Cause they were shit."

Is there any chance of Satan Singh joining you on tour in the near future?
Gaz: "No, but you never know."

Is there going to be a Supergrass film?
Gaz: "No, but you never know."

Our favourite Supergrass song is "Sitting Up Straight" from "I Should Coco". We've been to see them a few times but they've never played that song why not?
Gaz: "Don't know. We do sometimes."

What acoustic simulator does Gaz use? I saw him using it live, and want one.
Gaz: "It's a bridge replacement made by a bloke who's name I can't remember. Sorry."

Which album do you like most out of all three?
All: "The new one."

Would you like your kids to follow you into the music business?
Mick: "No."

If you were unable to play music for a living anymore, what would you do with your live?
Mick: "I'd work in a bank."

Would you ever re-release 'Alright' to cash in if you were running out of cash?
Mick: "You bet your ass!"

Do you still take the singles chart seriously?
Mick: "What do you mean, 'still'?!"

Do you really like Tunnock's Tea Cakes?
Mick: "Not really."

And that's all, I'm afraid. After all, they do have a gig to play and a birthday celebration lined up for afterwards...
